Senior Site Executive, St. Louis
Bill Schnettgoecke is vice president of Supply and Operations Chain for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS). He is responsible for the production of all fixed-wing tactical aircraft, tankers, transport aircraft, rotorcraft, satellites and weapon systems. In this role, he integrates work across the core Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Supplier Quality and Quality functions, and coordinates with such other functions as Engineering and Environment, Health & Safety, to support BDS business success and provide value to BDS customers.
Schnettgoecke also serves as the vice president of Boeing's Lean+ initiative, one of four companywide initiatives to increase growth and improve productivity across all Boeing business units. In this position, which he has held since 2006, Schnettgoecke is responsible for leading an integrated one-company approach to first-time quality and continuous improvement by deploying common processes, tools and training throughout the value chain. He is also senior St. Louis site executive, responsible for day-to-day St. Louis operations.
Previously, Schnettgoecke served as deputy, Operations and Supplier Management, and before that, vice president of Quality for Integrated Defense Systems (now BDS). In this role, he was responsible for ensuring that the appropriate people, processes and tools were in place to enable delivery of Boeing products and services and for building a culture of continuous improvement.
Throughout his career, Schnettgoecke has held various leadership positions in Operations and Quality for tactical aircraft programs. He started his career in 1978 as a production mechanic.
Schnettgoecke holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Sterling College and a master's degree from Washington University Olin School of Business.
He serves on the Executive Board of the Lean Advancement Initiative in conjunction with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also is a member of The Conference Board Council for Six Sigma Executives, the Executive Board at Christian Hospital in St. Louis and the board of directors for the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association.
