Management Changes Announced At Boeing

SEATTLE, Oct. 31, 1995 -- Boeing Commercial Airplane Group has announced several leadership changes, the most significant of which is appointing Tom Schick as executive vice president and deputy to Ron Woodard, president of the largest operating division of Boeing.

Woodard announced the changes in an employee information bulletin today, noting: "We need to have a management structure that allows us to best meet our customers' needs. The ultimate goal is to increase the value of our products for our customers and to grow our market share."

Schick will share responsibility with Woodard on internal day-to- day management of the Group, providing a consistent focus on internal process improvements and efforts to improve productivity of the world's largest producer of commercial jet aircraft. Woodard will continue to meet the external requirements of customers, Company Offices, industry and government. In addition, Schick, who had been senior vice president - Airplane Support, retains his role as head of all airplane support efforts.

Another key move is the appointment of Dan Heidt to the new position of senior vice president - Airplane Components. Heidt, currently vice president and general manager of the Wichita Division, will be responsible for the procurement and production of parts and components used to produce all Boeing airplanes. Reporting to Heidt are the leaders of the Fabrication, Wichita, Materiel and Propulsion Systems divisions as well as the Aircraft Interiors Responsibility Center and the newly formed Wing Responsibility Center.

Other management changes announced today and effective Nov. 1 include the following, which also reflect name changes in the Group's product divisions:

  • Replacing Heidt is Jeff Turner, currently director of Finance in the Wichita Division, who becomes vice president/general manager of the division.
  • Gary Scott, currently director of Finance and Business Resources in the Renton Division, will work alongside Bill Selby and become vice president/general manager of the 737/757 Programs upon Selby's retirement in the first quarter of 1996.
