Boeing Delivers Popular 747 To Singapore Airlines

SEATTLE, June 21, 1996 -- Singapore Airlines, the largest 747-400 operator in the world, yesterday received its 38th Boeing 747-400.

The new Boeing 747 will enter service June 25, 1996. With the additional jumbo, Singapore will operate 37 747-400s, comprising 33 passenger airplanes and four freighters. Singapore Airlines currently is leasing a Boeing 747-400 to China Airlines.

Passengers of this 747-400 will enjoy the airline's new state-of-the-art in- flight entertainment system, which offers 22 video and 12 audio channels, as well as 10 electronic games and text news updated every 30 minutes throughout the flight.

The Boeing 747 is the foundation on which Singapore Airlines has built its world-class global service. The new airplane allows the airline to fly convenient, non-stop service to distant destinations.

Singapore Airlines has an additional 15 747-400s on order. Boeing offers four versions of the 747-400: an all-passenger version; the freighter; a domestic version for short, high density routes; and the combi, which simultaneously carries passengers and cargo on the main deck.
