Commercial Helicopter Sale Efforts Expanded

MESA, June 09, 1998 -- Due to regulatory concerns, The Boeing Company and Bell Helicopter Textron have jointly agreed to suspend efforts to sell Boeing's MD 500 and MD 600 helicopter lines to Bell Helicopter.

In response to questions raised by Federal Trade Commission (FTC) staff, Boeing will market its light helicopter lines to other potential buyers. Boeing remains committed to following its strategic business decision to exit the commercial helicopter business.

In the meantime, Boeing will continue to sell, produce and deliver its entire line of light commercial helicopters. The company also will continue to provide parts and technical service to its customers worldwide.
