First Boeing 777-800 for Turkish Airlines in Final Assembly

RENTON, Wash., May 26, 1998 -- The first 737-800 for Turkish Airlines (THY) is now in final assembly at the Boeing Renton, Wash., facility. The airplane is the first of 26 Next-Generation 737-800s ordered by the airline in December 1997. THY will take delivery of six 737-800s by the end of 1998, expanding its fleet to 36 Boeing passenger airplanes. The new 737s will enable THY to fly new routes and better serve its customers. Currently, the airline flies to 33 domestic and 65 international destinations.
