ST. LOUIS, May 09, 2000 -- Boeing today announced two key executive appointments related to yesterday's leadership changes in St. Louis and Seattle.

Patrick Finneran has been named vice president and general manager of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Programs for Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems in St. Louis. John Van Gels has been named the new St. Louis Boeing site manager.

"A&M is very fortunate to have these two extremely competent leaders in such important roles," said Jerry Daniels, newly appointed president of Aircraft and Missile Systems. "I'm excited that they will be leading our team through the challenges ahead."

Finneran, 54, succeeds Daniels as vice president and general manager of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Programs. He most recently has served as vice president and general manager of the F/A-18 Hornet program, responsibilities he will retain until a successor is named. Previously, he served as vice president and general manager for Production Aircraft Programs. Finneran joined McDonnell Douglas in 1987 as a senior representative for program development for the AV-8B Harrier. He later became vice president and general manager of Marketing.

As the new site leader in St. Louis, Van Gels, 56, will retain his current responsibilities as vice president and general manager of Production Operations and General Services. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of Production Programs for the MD-80, MD-90, MD-11 and Trunkliner programs at Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach. Van Gels began his career with McDonnell Douglas in 1963 in Production for its Astronautics division. He then held a number of progressively responsible positions in the Missile Systems unit and Douglas Aircraft.
