U.S. Air Force Accepts Latest Boeing C-17 Globemaster III

LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 08, 2000 -- Gen. Tony Robertson, Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Transportation Command, accepted delivery of the newest Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, the 68th, on behalf of the U.S. Air Force in ceremonies here today.

The U.S. Air Force general, who also commands the Air Mobility Command, flew the C-17 to McChord Air Force Base, near Tacoma, Wash. Air Mobility Command, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, commands all operational C-17s worldwide.

Two more C-17s are scheduled for delivery this year.

The U.S. Air Force C-17 fleet has flown more than 225,000 hours to date.
