CHICAGO, April 02, 2002 -- The Boeing Company today named Roger Krone and Patrick Shanahan to new senior leadership positions, effective April 15.
Krone will become vice president of Strategic Projects at Boeing's World Headquarters in Chicago and will report directly to Mike Sears, Boeing chief financial officer and member of the Office of the Chairman.
Shanahan will succeed Krone as vice president and general manager of U.S. Army Programs for Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems. He will report to Jerry Daniels, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems.
"With his great experience as a business unit chief financial officer and strategist and his outstanding leadership of our Army programs, Roger is a perfect addition to our World Headquarters team," Sears said.
Krone served three years as the chief financial officer of Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems before being named in May 2000 as head of U.S. Army Programs. In this position, he led successful efforts to strengthen the company's operations in Philadelphia and Mesa, Ariz., and enhance the competitiveness of Boeing's rotorcraft programs.
In his new role, Shanahan also will be responsible for operations at Boeing's Philadelphia and Mesa sites. Since February 2000, Shanahan has been vice president and general manager of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes 757 Programs. Prior to that, he was head of the Boeing 767-400ER program, where he led the team through the aircraft's successful rollout and first flight.
Concurrently, Boeing Commercial Airplanes announced that the 757 and 737 airplane programs would be consolidated under the leadership of Carolyn Corvi, currently vice president and general manager of the 737 program.
"Roger and his team have done an outstanding job of positioning Boeing to carry out its current rotorcraft programs and to capture future business opportunities," Daniels said. "We are committed to rotorcraft programs as an important part of our future. Pat will do a tremendous job of carrying on this great work. He has distinguished himself on the 757 program as a leader who cares about his team and about his customers. I know he'll bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to this new challenge."
